THANK YOU NOTES
“Homeless is More” Homeless Service
Awardees of Gerald Choa Memorial Fund Community Services Scholarship 2018-19
It is a great honour to be nominated by the Faculty of Medicine for the Gerald Choa Memorial Fund Community Services
Scholarship 2018-19. We are deeply thankful to have this valuable chance in our university life.
Inspired by the 2015 Homeless Outreach Population Estimation (H.O.P.E.) Hong Kong, we started our homeless service,
Homeless is More, in Cheung Sha Wan in 2016. In the beginning, we faced lots of difficulties such as the shortage and
mismatch of manpower, inadequate resources, the problem of sustainability and so forth. We had to devise a solution for
each of the problem.
During this problem-solving process, we were grateful for the many people and organisations who had reached out to help
us. With the award of this great scholarship in particular, not only will it help provide more resources to enhance our service
quality, but it will also be seen as a recognition of our efforts and contributions to help the homeless. This will definitely
encourage more volunteers to participate in our services.
We are extremely happy that our team is one of the recipients of this meaningful scholarship. We promise that we will make
good use of it to improve our service quality, to expand our service team so that we can reach more homeless people, build
stronger relationships with them and also enhance social awareness about the homeless situation in our society.
Thank you once again for giving us this precious chance. We will continue to do our best. Let us hope that, in the future, the
homeless situation in Hong Kong will not be “more but less”.
