CU MEDICAL ALUMNI
BUDDY PROGRAMME EVENTS
The Medical Alumni Buddy Programme kicked off 2019
with the “Career Talk on Oncology, Radiology and Nuclear
Medicine” which was held on 4 January 2019. Over 50
medical students and graduates eagerly soaked up the
wisdom and advice dished out by eight specialists from the
private and public sectors.
Then a month later, on 15 February 2019, around 260
medical students attended the practical “Crash Course on
Clinical Exam & OSCE”. The speakers from Prince of Wales
Hospital — Dr. Heyson CHAN (MBChB 2007), Associate
Consultant in Medicine & Therapeutics, Dr. George LAW
(MBChB 2008), Resident Specialist, Orthopaedics and
Dr. Shirley LIU (MBChB 2003), Associate Consultant in
Surgery — joined hands with private Orthopaedic Surgeon,
Dr. Billy LAW (MBChB 2001), to give tips and advice on
presentation and viva voce skills.
The “Career Decision and Job Interview Workshop”, a
highlight activity of the CU Medical Alumni Buddy Group,
was held on 14 June 2019. The workshop was well received
by over 170 medical students and interns. Speakers of the
workshop included buddy alumni, Dr. Fei Chau PANG
(MBChB 1994), Head of Human Resources, Hospital
Authority Head Office; Dr. Ngai Chuen SIN (MBChB 1994),
Hospital Chief Executive, Bradbury Hospice, Cheshire
Home Shatin and Shatin Hospital and the late
Dr. Wing Tai SIU (MBChB 1989), Honorary Fellow of CUHK
and Consultant Surgeon, Hong Kong Sanatorium &
Hospital. Professor Enders NG (MBChB 1989), Associate
Dean (Alumni Affairs) also joined the Workshop as a special
guest, whereas Dr. Bonita LAW (MBChB 1992), Deputy
Head, Department of Surgery and Director, Breast Centre,
Union Hospital, shared her experience and views during the
sharing session.
