                                    DEAN%u2019S MESSAGEReminiscing about the fledging years in the 1980s, the Faculty admittedits inaugural cohort of 60 students in 1981, a time when the ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong operated without a guiding precedent. Thismoment signifies the inception of our Faculty%u2019s story%u2026In its brief four-decade history, CU Medicine stands with profound prideupon its remarkable achievements: ranked 28th among the world%u2019s topmedical schools, 1st in Hong Kong, and 2nd in Asia*; the establishmentof 4 InnoCentres with the support from the Government; and thecontinued excellence of our Global Physician-Leadership Stream (GPS)with the highest median admission score among regional universitiesfor the 11th consecutive year. These accolades pay tribute to the legacyof our visionary Founding Dean, the esteemed late Professor GeraldCHOA, who laid the groundwork for this medical school in the 1980samidst myriad challenges. We also extend deep appreciation to ourpredecessors in the CU Medicine community, whose unwaveringcommitment has served as a perpetual wellspring of inspiration andenlightenment for the Faculty.1Professor Philip W.
